How it works
Audio size is driven by sample rate and channel count. This tool re-renders your file at a lower sample rate and/or in mono, which meaningfully shrinks it while keeping speech and most music perfectly listenable — all in the browser. For voice recordings, 16 kHz mono is a huge saving with little audible loss. Output is WAV; the reduction comes from the lower rate, not lossy encoding.
